He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Hemel Hempstead City's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. In the 8th minute, Hemel Hempstead City's Hugh Beerman dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. 13 minutes into the match, Swindon's goal looked a bit too open when Hugh Beerman came free, but Vernon Porter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Brendon Dunning kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. 19 minutes into the match, Swindon's Perry Osbourne broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After 22 played minutes Hemel Hempstead City got a freekick which was hit by Brendon Dunning. Brendon Dunning kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. The supporters of Hemel Hempstead City booed when Swindon was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Garth White didn't get a good kick on the ball. Stan Mannell took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 35th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Vernon Porter. Swindon's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. With a little luck, Swindon's Vernon Porter got control of the ball when Vince Ward tried to sneak it across the goal line. Hugh Beerman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vernon Porter having to interfere. In the 48th minute, Swindon's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Vince Ward fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jonathan Haper was the one to do the kick off. Vernon Porter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfred Wright in the 54th minute of play. Conan Cook lost his temper 57 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 57th minute, one of Hemel Hempstead City:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Hemel Hempstead City. 60 minutes into the game, Perry Osbourne cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Lance Hoult was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 63 minutes into the match, Hemel Hempstead City's goal looked a bit too open when Jonathan Haper came free, but Lance Hoult reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dion Blowman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Lance Hoult tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jonathan Haper in the 67th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lance Hoult prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 69 minutes into the match, Swindon's Dion Blowman sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lance Hoult narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 75th minute, Jonathan Haper got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 77th minute Jonathan Haper shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lance Hoult saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vince Ward struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Vernon Porter didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hemel Hempstead City. Lance Hoult made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dion Blowman in the 82nd minute. Jonathan Haper received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Lance Hoult tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alf Westerby kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. In the 97th minute, Alf Westerby hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hemel Hempstead City's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
