Felix Featherson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Beaconsfield AFC booed when Portreath was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alan Ginn didn't get a good kick on the ball. Buster Christie made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alf Beckett in the 14th minute of play. Beaconsfield AFC's Greg Rockett played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Colin Hough in the 21st minute of play. In the 23rd minute, Orson Millman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Felix Featherson's late challenge caught a Portreath's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Felix Featherson helped the player get up and apologised. In the 28th match minute, Beaconsfield AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Featherson to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Colin Hough in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Greg Rockett saved Beaconsfield AFC from getting behind. Frank Drury received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Greg Rockett tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Felix Featherson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Buster Christie having to make a save. Colin Hough received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Greg Rockett tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Colin Hough to make the kick off. Frank Drury struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Greg Rockett didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Portreath. The Portreath fans' excitement grew in the 54th match minute when Portreath's Colin Hough looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alf Beckett in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Buster Christie saved Portreath from getting behind. Greg Rockett came out of the goal in the 60th minute to try and stop a shot by Portreath's Alan Ginn. But to his dismay, Alan Ginn quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Colin Hough recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 66 played minutes Portreath got a freekick which was hit by Thomas Noble. Felix Featherson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Buster Christie having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alf Beckett in the 68th minute of play forced Portreath's goalkeeper Buster Christie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 72 minutes into the match, Beaconsfield AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Frank Drury came free, but Greg Rockett reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Buster Christie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alf Beckett, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Colin Hough managed to get in a good position for a shot. Portreath's supporters rose to their feet, but Colin Hough was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Greg Rockett breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 80 minutes into the match, Portreath's Frank Drury sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Greg Rockett narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Buster Christie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alf Beckett in the 82nd minute of the match. A hard shot 83 in the game by Felix Featherson from a close distance when the talented Buster Christie managed to make a qualified save. Portreath's players were relieved. Buster Christie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alf Beckett, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 88 played minutes Portreath got a freekick which was hit by Rick Moyse. In the 92nd minute, Alf Beckett fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Thomas Noble received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Greg Rockett tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Beaconsfield AFC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
