One of Greenwich:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Thurlaston AFC:s goal. In the 14th minute there was a penalty for Thurlaston AFC. Danny Blain stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Johnathan Pritchard. 0-1. Carl Jobling took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alf Akins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Frankie Foley hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. The audience cheered when Rod Cardwell's long shot passed Carl Jobling's right side. It was 1-1, 21 minutes into the match. Greenwich's Grant Davies got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alf Akins in the 25th minute of play forced Thurlaston AFC's goalkeeper Carl Jobling to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lenny Bannatyne hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. In the 27th minute, Alf Akins got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Grant Davies fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carl Jobling having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Thurlaston AFC's Lenny Bannatyne got a free kick in the 34th minute. Alf Akins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Carl Jobling tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Conan Swallow had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Alf Akins made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alf Akins in the 71st minute of play forced Thurlaston AFC's goalkeeper Carl Jobling to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Kristopher Darko had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 74 minutes in the game, Conan Swallow got a free kick from a good position and fired away a shot. The shot didn't have enough spin and went out of bounds to the left of the goal. Johnathan Pritchard was out of position in the 78 minute of play, and Kristopher Darko capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Kristopher Darko really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. Brendon Bartram kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. Conan Swallow received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Johnathan Pritchard tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 93 minutes into the game, Greenwich's Alf Akins nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Carl Jobling made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2.
