Spectators: 35 (Terracing: 27, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Brad Holbrook hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. 5 minutes into the match, Ashton-in-Makerfield FC's goalkeeper Simeon Chalk had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lloyd Hewitt. Simeon Chalk stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Des Crosby's shot from short distance in the 9th minute. Jonathon Trueman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gordon Challis having to interfere. After some careless play in the Ashton-in-Makerfield FC defense, Lloyd Hewitt kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Simeon Chalk. The Ashton-in-Makerfield FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Simeon Chalk should have stopped the shot. In the 15th match minute, Honiton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Des Crosby to maneuver through the defense. Gordon Challis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jonathon Trueman, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. After 35 played minutes Honiton got a freekick which was hit by Hugh Clarke. Simeon Chalk made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Des Crosby in the 37th minute of play. Lloyd Hewitt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Simeon Chalk having to interfere. Lloyd Hewitt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ashton-in-Makerfield FC's Simeon Chalk proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save Ashton-in-Makerfield FC from getting a goal against them. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Des Crosby stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Honiton's Gordon Challis proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save Honiton from getting a goal against them. Lloyd Hewitt struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Simeon Chalk didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Honiton. In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ashton-in-Makerfield FC's goalkeeper Simeon Chalk, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Honiton's Gordon Challis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonathon Trueman in the 58th minute of play. 60 minutes into the match, Ashton-in-Makerfield FC's goal looked a bit too open when Des Crosby came free, but Simeon Chalk reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Jonathon Trueman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lloyd Hewitt in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Simeon Chalk saved Ashton-in-Makerfield FC from getting behind. Simeon Chalk made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Des Crosby in the 69th minute of play. The Honiton fans' excitement grew in the 70th match minute when Honiton's Des Crosby looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Simeon Chalk took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lloyd Hewitt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Des Crosby managed to get in a good position for a shot. Honiton's supporters rose to their feet, but Des Crosby was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Simeon Chalk breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Lloyd Hewitt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Ashton-in-Makerfield FC's Tim Evans got a free kick in the 85th minute. Lloyd Hewitt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Simeon Chalk tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Ashton-in-Makerfield FC's zone, Des Crosby stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Simeon Chalk came out of the goal and Des Crosby tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Des Crosby sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the referee ended the match the Honiton players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
