The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 4 minutes, Neil Banks managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tring's supporters crossed their fingers, but Neil Banks was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Curtis Hassell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Neil Banks in the 10th minute of the match. Rich Hargreaves scored 0-1 in the 18th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mattias Hayes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Neil Banks sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 26th minute of the match, Neil Banks tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Curtis Hassell saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Neil Banks managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tring's supporters rose to their feet, but Neil Banks was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Curtis Hassell breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 28 minutes, David Button mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Liverpool and the Tring players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 28 played minutes Liverpool got a freekick which was hit by David Button. 37 minutes into the game, Neil Banks lined in a short shot 1-1 behind a frustrated Curtis Hassell. 41 minutes into the game, Andy Coulthard cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Mattias Hayes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Liverpool's Curtis Hassell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Neil Banks in the 47th minute of play. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Neil Banks made a kick off. The Tring fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mattias Hayes should have stopped the shot. Victor Horn hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. A collision led to Tring getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Victor Horn hit a great ball. Rich Hargreaves kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. If Garth Jones had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 64th match minute, Liverpool was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Henry Daly to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Liverpool defense, Victor Horn kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Curtis Hassell. The Liverpool fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Curtis Hassell should have stopped the shot. Clive Griggs scored 2-4 in the 74th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mattias Hayes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Neil Banks in the 82nd minute of play forced Liverpool's goalkeeper Curtis Hassell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Tring's Garth Jones got a free kick in the 93rd minute. The Tring manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Liverpool to win.
