But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Keiran Tanner couldn't finish the play. After 13 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Manchester united FC! Colchester United's Leo Hargrave got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Manchester united FC's Dave Cotterill got a free kick in the 22nd minute. When Keiran Tanner came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Colchester United fans jumped to their feet. Drew Bryden made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Keiran Tanner sent off a good shot on target. If Kasey Sheehan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 33 minutes into the match, Keiran Tanner had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Drew Bryden. Manchester united FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Keiran Tanner was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. 37 minutes into the game, Mickey Browne was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Manchester united FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Colchester United the free kick. A collision led to Manchester united FC getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Mickey Browne hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Keiran Tanner got free with Drew Bryden in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Leo Hargrave in the 55th minute of play forced Manchester united FC's goalkeeper Drew Bryden to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 56 minutes into the game, Colchester United's Keiran Tanner nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Drew Bryden made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. Kasey Sheehan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Keanu Langston having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kasey Sheehan in the 63rd minute of play forced Colchester United's goalkeeper Keanu Langston to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Albert Camfield's late challenge caught a Manchester united FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Albert Camfield helped the player get up and apologised. After 64 played minutes Colchester United got a freekick which was hit by Albert Camfield. If Kasey Sheehan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Colchester United getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Trev Jobson hit a great ball. Manchester united FC's Drew Bryden played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Albert Camfield in the 71st minute of play. Matt Musgrove came free with the goalkeeper in the 75th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Keanu Langston could save by the left post. After 78 played minutes Manchester united FC got a freekick which was hit by Alfie Green. Glen Johnson hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Drew Bryden didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Keiran Tanner went, in the 82nd minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. Colchester United's Keanu Langston proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Colchester United from getting a goal against them. Matt Musgrove sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Colchester United were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Manchester united FC for a fine match.
