Spectators: 35 (Terracing: 27, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) 10 minutes into the match, Hickling FC's goalkeeper Tom Johnston had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Thom Adamson. In the 20th minute Dion Palmer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tom Johnston saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Hickling FC's zone, Dion Palmer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tom Johnston came out of the goal and Dion Palmer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dion Palmer charged in rather forcefully in the 32nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dion Palmer the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Chesterfield City getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Dion Palmer hit a great ball. After 33 minutes, Piers Wright mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hickling FC and the Chesterfield City players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Hickling FC's Piers Wright got a free kick in the 34th minute. Dion Palmer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tom Johnston having to interfere. Thom Adamson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Tom Johnston tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 42nd minute of the match Jools Parkinson sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tom Johnston skillfully saved the ball. If Jim Blewitt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dion Palmer to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 54th match minute, Hickling FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dylon Snowdon to maneuver through the defense. Tom Johnston stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dion Palmer's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sean Perryman got free with Chris Woodman in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thom Adamson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tom Johnston having to make a save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dion Palmer in the 63rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tom Johnston prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 63rd minute, Gareth Clarke hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tom Johnston made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thom Adamson in the 70th minute of play. Gareth Clarke hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Chesterfield City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Thom Adamson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tom Johnston didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Thom Adamson went, in the 91st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Tom Johnston showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tosh Brazier, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. Thom Adamson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tom Johnston having to interfere.
