A collision led to Bolton Wanderers getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Christian Newby hit a great ball. Marty Leadbeater made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Garry Fearns in the 15th minute of play. Garry Fearns did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-0 to the left of a surprised Marty Leadbeater 18 minutes into the match. Ralf Macken made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reggie Younger in the 25th minute of play. When Dave Lansdell fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored New Romney United's protests and gave Dave Lansdell a yellow card for diving instead. Tod Dickens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Ralf Macken tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 40 minutes into the match, New Romney United's Miles Wybrow sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marty Leadbeater narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ralf Macken showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reggie Younger, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Reggie Younger could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but Ralf Macken made a huge save. After 63 minutes, Jordan Pickard mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the New Romney United and the Bolton Wanderers players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, New Romney United's Jordan Pickard got a free kick in the 63rd minute. Ralf Macken was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Tod Dickens showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-1 in the 64 minute of play. With a little luck, New Romney United's Ralf Macken got control of the ball when Reggie Younger tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Tod Dickens had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ralf Macken came out of the goal and Reggie Younger tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Tod Dickens managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bolton Wanderers's supporters rose to their feet, but Tod Dickens was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ralf Macken breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Reggie Younger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute.
