In the 39th minute, Richie Downes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ted Dudgeon succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 42nd playminute. Ted Dudgeon could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but David Palmer made a huge save. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Richie Downes to strike the kick off in the second half. 57 minutes into the match, Les Shackleton had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tom Boothroyd. Bowburn's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Les Shackleton was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. David Palmer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Richie Downes in the 74th minute of the match. Felix King hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. Craig Bull's late challenge caught a Penrith AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Craig Bull helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Penrith AFC booed when Bowburn was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Craig Bull didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ted Dudgeon struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. David Palmer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bowburn. If Les Shackleton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
