The crowd rose to their feet as Ivan Bradbury kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Andre Street. That made the score 1-0 in the 30 minute of play. Gainsborough's Andre Street proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Gainsborough from getting a goal against them. When Grant Locke came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Forest Hill fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Grant Locke couldn't finish the play. In the 41st minute of the game, Glen Brennan landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. Ritchie Dlyan's late challenge caught a Forest Hill's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ritchie Dlyan helped the player get up and apologised. In the 42nd minute, Ritchie Dlyan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Grant Locke received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Andre Street tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match clock showed 59 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Grant Locke sped through Gainsborough's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Andre Street. In the 63rd minute, Kirk Prior fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Stan Frost, passed just outside the right post. In the 66th minute, Grant Locke got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Stan Frost showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kirk Prior in the 72nd minute of the match. A collision led to Gainsborough getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Gav Dawson hit a great ball. Grant Locke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andre Street having to interfere.
