With an extended leg and a bit of luck Denny Cookson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 28 minutes into the match, Danny Smith notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Radway's Denny Cookson. Denny Cookson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Richie Oliver received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Beinn Cotton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roger Flower, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thom Banks succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-2 in the 76th playminute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roger Flower in the 80th minute of play forced Shrewsbury's goalkeeper Beinn Cotton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
