Wolverhampton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dean Edwards was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. David Reid sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 25th minute, Len Currie hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dean Edwards received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Jermaine Truscott tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joshua Westerby came free with the goalkeeper in the 80th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Nial Myers could save by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Reid in the 89th minute of play forced Holmes Chapel's goalkeeper Jermaine Truscott to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Quentin Granger's late challenge caught a Wolverhampton's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Wolverhampton fully deserved thier win.
