Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Nial Bettinson started the match with the kick off. John Forrester made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luke Hird in the 4th minute of play. 10 minutes into the game, Callum Zamora was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cheddar's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Matlock United the free kick. In the 11th match minute, Cheddar was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Callum Zamora to maneuver through the defense. 11 minutes into the match, Matlock United's Simon Seagrave broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Nial Bettinson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Nial Bettinson came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Matlock United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nial Bettinson couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Matlock United's zone, Sol Nicoll stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. John Forrester came out of the goal and Sol Nicoll tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 21st minute, Nial Bettinson made a precise shot to the right of Kev Notley. Cheddar's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Rich Hudson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kev Notley having to interfere. In the 28th minute, Sol Nicoll left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cheddar fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. The audience was convinced that Luke Hird's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but John Forrester was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. In the 40th minute, Nial Bettinson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Kev Notley showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nial Bettinson, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. When Luke Hird came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Cheddar fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luke Hird couldn't finish the play. Wayne Rocastle kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. Micheal Blowman kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luke Hird was the one to do the kick off. Kev Notley showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nial Bettinson in the 54th minute of the match. When Wayne Rocastle fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Matlock United's protests and gave Wayne Rocastle a yellow card for diving instead. Wayne Rocastle hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. John Forrester took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luke Hird, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 64th minute, Grant Creighton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 65th minute Sol Nicoll shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but John Forrester saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 68 minutes, Micheal Blowman mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Matlock United and the Cheddar players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Cheddar booed when Matlock United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Micheal Blowman didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Matlock United getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Jonny Dry hit a great ball. Nial Bettinson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kev Notley read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 75th minute of play. Cheddar's Kev Notley played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nial Bettinson in the 82nd minute of play. In the 86th minute Sol Nicoll shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but John Forrester saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 92 minutes into the match, Matlock United's Rich Hudson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kev Notley narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
