After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Devon Potter managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ormskirk's supporters rose to their feet, but Devon Potter was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Norman Baker breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Devon Potter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Devon Potter struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Norman Baker didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ormskirk. In the 32nd minute Ormskirk were awarded a corner. Orson Bryant went to the cornerflag to take it. After 34 minutes, Devon Potter made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Everton's Norman Baker tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Devon Potter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Norman Baker having to interfere. Felix Seaman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 50th minute. Fitz Donnelly tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

After 89 played minutes Ormskirk got a freekick which was hit by Damon Sheldon. The crowd rose to their feet as Ormskirk's Luke Lockwood slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Norman Baker. That made the score 1-4 after 93 minutes of play. 100 minutes into the match, Ormskirk's Devon Potter sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Norman Baker narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Ormskirk walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
