Den Watson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Liam Forrest, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Den Watson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tyler Crouch, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. 9 minutes into the match, Thirsk's goal looked a bit too open when Tyler Crouch came free, but Den Watson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thirsk's Den Watson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tyler Crouch in the 11th minute of play. If Dominic Frost had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Dominic Frost sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 13 minutes into the game, Daryl Shearer was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Downton's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Thirsk the free kick. Daryl Shearer kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Jake Dowrick managed to get in a good position for a shot. Thirsk's supporters rose to their feet, but Jake Dowrick was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lawrence Turnbull breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 21st minute, Spike Clough got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tyler Crouch in the 28th minute of play forced Thirsk's goalkeeper Den Watson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 30 minutes into the match, Paul Featherson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Den Watson. Thirsk's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Paul Featherson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Lawrence Turnbull made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Spike Clough sent off a good shot on target. Lawrence Turnbull showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Spike Clough in the 55th minute of the match. Lawrence Turnbull made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Spike Clough in the 58th minute of play. Thanks to some nice moves Paul Featherson could shoot a difficult shot in the 61st minute, which Den Watson however easily saved by the left post. Tyler Crouch struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Den Watson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Downton. Thirsk's Den Watson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 67th minute of the match, managed to save Thirsk from getting a goal against them. 72 minutes into the match, Thirsk's goalkeeper Den Watson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Paul Featherson. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dominic Frost in the 85th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lawrence Turnbull saved Downton from getting behind. 87 minutes into the match, Thirsk's goal looked a bit too open when James Rushmere came free, but Den Watson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Spike Clough in the 90th minute of play forced Downton's goalkeeper Lawrence Turnbull to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tyler Crouch got free with Den Watson in the 98th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The Thirsk manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Downton to win.
