Spectators: 35 (Terracing: 27, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) James Rushmere made the kick off and thus started the match. In the 4th minute, Garry Hurren hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Martyn Clarkson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If James Rushmere had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 24th minute, Martyn Clarkson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Martyn Clarkson scored 0-1 in the 26th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Lawrence Turnbull, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 35th minute Martyn Clarkson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lawrence Turnbull saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Martyn Clarkson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Lawrence Turnbull tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 45th minute, Tyler Crouch fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. 51 minutes into the match, James Rushmere notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Chester's Mick Hold. Mick Hold was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Martyn Clarkson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Martyn Clarkson was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 57th minute. Chester's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Mick Hold showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tyler Crouch in the 60th minute of the match. Keith Taylor recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Darren Basham charged in rather forcefully in the 65th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Darren Basham the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Downton getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Darren Basham hit a great ball. Martyn Clarkson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lawrence Turnbull having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tyler Crouch in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mick Hold saved Chester from getting behind. 77 minutes had been played when some careless play by Downton's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Jake Kalischer was slow to take the kick. During this time Chester's players had a chance to rest. In the 79th minute Chester were awarded a corner. Jake Kalischer went to the cornerflag to take it. Jake Kalischer made a great header on Chester's corner, it was just that Downton's Lawrence Turnbull managed to reach the ball for a save. If Tyler Crouch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 84th match minute, Downton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daryl Shearer to maneuver through the defense. Lawrence Turnbull was out of position in the 89 minute of play, and Martyn Clarkson capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Martyn Clarkson really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. Darryl Ploughman's late challenge caught a Chester's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Darryl Ploughman helped the player get up and apologised.
