Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jeff Askew in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Johnathan Skipton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 20th minute, Jeff Askew hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 22 minutes, Jack Attenborough mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Moreton and the Wellington FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Jack Attenborough kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Christian Broadbent in the 24thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Stu Sercombe, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After 43 played minutes Moreton got a freekick which was hit by Gwyn Devine. In the 44th minute of the match, Jeff Richardson tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Stu Sercombe saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 48 minutes into the match, Moreton's goalkeeper Stu Sercombe had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Christian Broadbent. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jack Attenborough made a kick off. A collision led to Moreton getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Jim Ripley hit a great ball. When Christian Broadbent came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Wellington FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Christian Broadbent couldn't finish the play. Jack Attenborough was extremely unlucky when he, in the 67th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Johnathan Skipton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jack Attenborough, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. Christian Broadbent fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stu Sercombe having to interfere.
