Christian Broadbent who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 32ndth minute tested the skills of Felix Wardle when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 37 minutes into the match, Corby's goal looked a bit too open when Jeff Richardson came free, but Felix Wardle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Wellington FC booed when Corby was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kris Cuss didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jeff Richardson in the 43rd minute of play forced Corby's goalkeeper Felix Wardle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Christian Broadbent had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Corby's Kris Cuss got a free kick in the 45th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

Graeme Glasby charged in rather forcefully in the 95th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Graeme Glasby the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Graeme Glasby hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
