Toby Weatherhead took the ball and in the 26 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Todd Chambers. Todd Chambers dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. When Carlton Ellison fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hornchurch's protests and gave Carlton Ellison a yellow card for diving instead. After 29 played minutes Hornchurch got a freekick which was hit by Carlton Ellison. After 31 minutes, Rufus Deaconsfield mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the London Army United and the Hornchurch players grew even worse after the yellow card. Carlton Ellison fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Damien Steele having to interfere. With a little luck, London Army United's Damien Steele got control of the ball when Alfie Hawkins tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to London Army United getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Crispin Edgson hit a great ball. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
