An unexpectedly hard shot by Teddy Verity in the 37th minute of play forced Milton Keynes's goalkeeper Kristopher Hayles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Curtis Bow helped the player get up and apologised. Curtis Bow hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. If Kenny Ruddock had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Leon Pell made a kick off. In the 53rd minute, Louie Jones got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 56th minute of the game. One of Isle of Wight FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Milton Keynes:s goal. After 61 played minutes Isle of Wight FC got a freekick which was hit by Conal Newlyn. In the 65thth minute of the game Kenny Ruddock who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Milton Keynes's Kristopher Hayles was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Vernon Liddle's late challenge caught a Isle of Wight FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vernon Liddle helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Isle of Wight FC booed when Milton Keynes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vernon Liddle didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kenny Ruddock fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kristopher Hayles having to interfere. Matthew Forbes hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. If Kenny Ruddock had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Milton Keynes's Kristopher Hayles got control of the ball when Teddy Verity tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience was convinced that Kenny Ruddock's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kristopher Hayles was relentless in the 84th minute of the game.
