Fakenham's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Kristopher Rowell didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rueben Griggs went, in the 15th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Kristopher Rowell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rueben Griggs in the 21st minute of play. Glyn Attwood's late challenge caught a Faversham's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Glyn Attwood helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Fakenham getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Glyn Attwood hit a great ball. In the 23rd minute of the match Fred Lockwood shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Kristopher Rowell showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Faversham's Johnathon Coton proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save Faversham from getting a goal against them. With a little luck, Faversham's Johnathon Coton got control of the ball when Wes Hurren tried to sneak it across the goal line. Kristopher Rowell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mick Philips in the 47th minute of play. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The audience thought a goal was coming when Aaron Jepson got free with Kristopher Rowell in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Kristopher Rowell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rueben Griggs in the 53rd minute of play. 55 minutes into the match, Fakenham's goalkeeper Kristopher Rowell had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mick Philips. Glyn Attwood hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. If Rupert Barton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Faversham's zone, Wes Hurren stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Johnathon Coton came out of the goal and Wes Hurren tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 81st minute, Fakenham's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Aaron Jepson fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. 81 minutes into the match Mick Philips climbed in front of goal and pressed up 1-3 in the right cross behind a totally surprised Kristopher Rowell. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Mick Philips managed to get in a good position for a shot. Faversham's supporters rose to their feet, but Mick Philips was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kristopher Rowell breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Mick Philips came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Faversham fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mick Philips couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Fakenham booed when Faversham was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. William Ruddock didn't get a good kick on the ball. Chants of Faversham echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Fakenham had held the ball for most of the match.
