Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Byron Garner got the match started through his kick off. If Byron Garner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Rupert Button received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Freddie Gilroy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Langley's Freddie Gilroy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Byron Garner in the 13th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Ivan Boyd's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Scott Nethercot was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. 22 minutes into the match, Ivan Boyd notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Long Hanborough's Scott Nethercot. Scott Nethercot was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of Long Hanborough booed when Langley was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ashley Ramsden didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Blair Brayson during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 30th match minute, Long Hanborough was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Blair Brayson to maneuver through the defense. 36 minutes into the match, Long Hanborough's Byron Garner sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Freddie Gilroy narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Freddie Gilroy made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Byron Garner sent off a good shot on target. Lennie Day's late challenge caught a Long Hanborough's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lennie Day helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Langley's Lennie Day got a free kick in the 42nd minute. After 44 played minutes, Long Hanborough's Ashley Howarth shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Freddie Gilroy came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Long Hanborough reached it. Freddie Gilroy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Byron Garner in the 46th minute of the match. The Long Hanborough players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Langley were winning 0-1.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ivan Boyd to strike the kick off in the second half. If Ivan Boyd had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Johnny Lumb sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Rupert Button managed to get in a good position for a shot. Long Hanborough's supporters rose to their feet, but Rupert Button was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Freddie Gilroy breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Rupert Button scored 1-1 in the 70th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Freddie Gilroy, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Scott Nethercot showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivan Boyd, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Freddie Gilroy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Byron Garner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 85 minutes into the match, Langley's Ivan Boyd sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Scott Nethercot narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 86 minutes into the match, Ivan Boyd dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Scott Nethercot, 1-2. A collision led to Langley getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Ashley Ramsden hit a great ball. After 90 minutes, Tod Kaye mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Langley and the Long Hanborough players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 94th minute, Long Hanborough's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Johnny Lumb fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. When Byron Garner came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Long Hanborough fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Byron Garner couldn't finish the play. The Langley supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Langley would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
