With a left leg Vernon Coulson saved Bristol Centre AFC from getting behind. Kristian Dryden sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. When Damon Bryant fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bristol Centre AFC's protests and gave Damon Bryant a yellow card for diving instead. Damon Bryant hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. After 12 minutes, Fred Murphy made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Bristol Centre AFC's Vernon Coulson tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Fred Murphy scored 0-2 in the 16th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Vernon Coulson, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 20th minute Kristian Dryden shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vernon Coulson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Pedro Brindley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bristol Centre AFC's Pedro Brindley got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 26th minute Byron Boyes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dean Pitts saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 28th minute, Graham Bradley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 29 played minutes Lavenham United got a freekick which was hit by Graham Bradley. Bristol Centre AFC's Jake Meadowcroft couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 30th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Lavenham United. Byron Boyes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Bob Mulligan fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. In the 37th minute, Bob Mulligan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fred Murphy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Vernon Coulson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Bristol Centre AFC booed when Lavenham United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Graham Bradley didn't get a good kick on the ball. Byron Boyes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dean Pitts having to interfere. After the first half Lavenham United were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Byron Boyes to make the kick off. Loyd Hancock's late challenge caught a Lavenham United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Loyd Hancock helped the player get up and apologised. 58 minutes into the match, Bristol Centre AFC's goalkeeper Vernon Coulson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Kristian Dryden. Kristian Dryden recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 67 minutes into the match, Bristol Centre AFC's Byron Boyes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dean Pitts narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Fred Murphy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Vernon Coulson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 70th match minute, Bristol Centre AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Loyd Hancock to maneuver through the defense. The Lavenham United fans' excitement grew in the 72nd match minute when Lavenham United's Fred Murphy looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After having played for 76 minutes, Fred Murphy managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lavenham United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fred Murphy was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 82nd minute Pedro Brindley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dean Pitts saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Byron Boyes came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Bristol Centre AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Byron Boyes couldn't finish the play. Lavenham United's Dean Pitts played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Byron Boyes in the 89th minute of play. Pedro Brindley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 99 minutes into the game, Bristol Centre AFC's Pedro Brindley nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dean Pitts made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3.
