Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Tristram Carey got the match started through his kick off. Vance Tomkin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Shaun Cheeseman read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 10th minute of play. If Vernon Hurst had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 15 minutes, Dominic Lane mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bury FC and the Milton City players grew even worse after the yellow card. Owen Henman could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Shaun Cheeseman made a huge save. After 23 played minutes Bury FC got a freekick which was hit by Owen Henman. Vance Tomkin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Perry Claydon stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tristram Carey's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. If Vance Tomkin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
The wind increased when Vance Tomkin made the kick off in the second half. Owen Henman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Shaun Cheeseman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 58 minutes into the match, Bury FC's goalkeeper Perry Claydon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Vernon Hurst. Perry Claydon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tristram Carey in the 60th minute of play. If Tristram Carey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vernon Hurst recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Perry Claydon was a little too slow when Tristram Carey got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 77th minute. The score was now 0-1. Owen Henman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Shaun Cheeseman having to interfere. Vance Tomkin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 87 minutes into the game, Martyn Drury was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Milton City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bury FC the free kick. Martyn Drury kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. In the 93rd minute, Martyn Drury hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Milton City supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Milton City would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
