Dean Mimms fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robbie Gold having to interfere. After having played for 10 minutes, Rob Booker managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cambridge AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rob Booker was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rob Booker struck a weak shot in the 13th minute. Ivor Munroe didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cambridge AFC. Ivor Munroe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mitch Meechan in the 14th minute of play. With a little luck, Cambridge AFC's Robbie Gold got control of the ball when Buster Bradbury tried to sneak it across the goal line. 1-0 became the score in the 19th minute when Buster Bradbury elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Robbie Gold took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dean Mimms, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ivor Munroe stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mitch Meechan's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. 35 minutes into the match, Tonbridge's goal looked a bit too open when Rob Booker came free, but Ivor Munroe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Cambridge AFC booed when Tonbridge was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Donald Dobson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Robbie Gold took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dean Mimms, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Cambridge AFC's zone, Buster Bradbury stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Robbie Gold came out of the goal and Buster Bradbury tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mitch Meechan in the 45th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ivor Munroe prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dean Mimms to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dean Mimms in the 58th minute of play forced Cambridge AFC's goalkeeper Robbie Gold to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When James Cornforth fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cambridge AFC's protests and gave James Cornforth a yellow card for diving instead. James Cornforth hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. It was beautiful to see Tonbridge's Kirk Prior in action when he in the 66th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! Dean Mimms sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 70th minute, Buster Bradbury got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Liam Wring received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Ivor Munroe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 81st minute Mitch Meechan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivor Munroe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 82nd minute, Verne Worth hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rob Booker succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-1 in the 87th playminute.
