In the 11th minute of the match Barrie Byfield shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nathan Rundell showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Richard Ferdinand fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nathan Rundell having to interfere. 27 minutes into the game, Rex Knowles was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Timperley FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Knutsford United the free kick. Rex Knowles kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Kev Saunders made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tommy Naisbitt in the 29th minute. When Timperley FC's Sonny Doyle in the 31st minute got a chance for a shot 31st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Knutsford United's goalie prevented a goal. After 44 minutes, Dan Atherton mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Knutsford United and the Timperley FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 44 played minutes Knutsford United got a freekick which was hit by Dan Atherton.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ed Wishart made a kick off. Knutsford United's Nathan Rundell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Richard Ferdinand in the 55th minute of play. Tommy Naisbitt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kev Saunders having to interfere. Stuart Sweeney charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Stuart Sweeney the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 73 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Knutsford United! The goalkeeper, Nathan Rundell, was totally fooled by Timperley FC's Jack Forster, who 75 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Austin Lineker during the 82nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Sonny Doyle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nathan Rundell having to interfere. 92 minutes in the game, Richard Ferdinand fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Nathan Rundell having to interfere. If Richard Ferdinand had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Knutsford United fans cheered their team off the field, for while Timperley FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
