Spectators: 36 (Terracing: 28, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Frank Hallam made the kick off and thus started the match. A collision led to Alton getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Kris Fowler hit a great ball. In the 14th minute, Timperley FC's Richard Ferdinand ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Marty Borrowdale. Marty Borrowdale yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Kev Saunders showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frank Hallam in the 18th minute of the match. After having played for 24 minutes, Doug Plant managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Alton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Doug Plant was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Doug Plant had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Timperley FC's zone, Frank Hallam stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kev Saunders came out of the goal and Frank Hallam tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 30 minutes, Nicholas Marsden mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Timperley FC and the Alton players grew even worse after the yellow card. Nicholas Marsden kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Doug Plant in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Kev Saunders prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After having played for 33 minutes, Frank Hallam managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Alton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frank Hallam was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Timperley FC's Kev Saunders played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frank Hallam in the 35th minute of play. In the 37th minute Frank Hallam shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kev Saunders saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 38 minutes into the match, Timperley FC's goal looked a bit too open when Frank Hallam came free, but Kev Saunders reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Timperley FC's Austin Lineker got a free kick in the 39th minute. When Frank Hallam came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Alton fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Frank Hallam couldn't finish the play. In the 44th minute, Doug Plant got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Richard Ferdinand to make the kick off. If Frank Hallam had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 55th match minute, Timperley FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zak Wagstaff to maneuver through the defense. Zak Wagstaff hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. After 59 minutes, Richard Ferdinand mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Timperley FC and the Alton players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 60 played minutes Timperley FC got a freekick which was hit by Richard Ferdinand. If Doug Plant had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Frank Hallam managed to get in a good position for a shot. Alton's supporters rose to their feet, but Frank Hallam was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kev Saunders breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 69th minute, Kris Fowler got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Alton's Doug Plant got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Frank Hallam's late challenge caught a Timperley FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Frank Hallam helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Timperley FC booed when Alton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frank Hallam didn't get a good kick on the ball. 79 minutes into the match, Timperley FC's goalkeeper Kev Saunders had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Doug Plant. In the 81st minute, Alton's Frank Hallam ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Kev Saunders. Kev Saunders yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. Alton's Brian Pool got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Doug Plant had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Frank Hallam came up free with the goalie in the 98th minute, the Alton fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Frank Hallam couldn't finish the play.
