Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Rick Dobson kicked off to start the match. When Oadby's Victor Dunne in the 5th minute got a chance for a shot 5th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Helsby's goalie prevented a goal. Christian Colt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Victor Dunne in the 8th minute of the match. Oadby's Blair Upson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rick Dobson in the 10th minute of play. Wayne Sandell hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. After having played for 14 minutes, Jake Bannister managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Helsby's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jake Bannister was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Blair Upson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rick Dobson went, in the 15th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Jake Bannister received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Blair Upson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rick Dobson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Blair Upson having to interfere. If Jake Bannister had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Oadby's Phil Kitchen got a free kick in the 36th minute. Jake Bannister recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jake Bannister fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Blair Upson having to interfere. Helsby's Christian Colt proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save Helsby from getting a goal against them. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Victor Dunne to make the kick off. David Crowther hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. If Victor Dunne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Wayne Sandell's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Christian Colt was relentless in the 68th minute of the game. Christian Colt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Johnathon Bridgewater, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Victor Dunne fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Christian Colt having to interfere. Johnathon Bridgewater struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Christian Colt didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Oadby. If Rick Dobson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rick Dobson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Blair Upson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 95th minute Rick Dobson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Blair Upson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Jake Bannister came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Helsby fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jake Bannister couldn't finish the play. Helsby played a much better game than Oadby and deserved their victory. The Oadby players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
