Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Leigh Bramble made the kick off which started today's match. After 3 minutes, Dave Bass mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Watton-at-Stone and the Crewe United players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Watton-at-Stone's Dave Bass got a free kick in the 3rd minute. 5 minutes into the game, Sacha Drake was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Watton-at-Stone's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Crewe United the free kick. In the 5th match minute, Watton-at-Stone was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sacha Drake to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jamal Gardner during the 7th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 7 played minutes Crewe United got a freekick which was hit by Jamal Gardner. If Lucas Potter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 12th match minute, Watton-at-Stone was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pierre Wardell to maneuver through the defense. In the 20th minute, Dave Bass hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tyler Howson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 25th minute, Watton-at-Stone's Lucas Potter dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. With an all-out effort, Watton-at-Stone's Rueben Drysdale threw himself towards the right post 30 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Lucas Potter, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Rueben Drysdale didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 32nd minute, which inside left pole to 2-1. Lee Reid received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Rueben Drysdale tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Lucas Potter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Watton-at-Stone's Lee Reid got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Lucas Potter to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lee Reid in the 52nd minute of play forced Crewe United's goalkeeper Rueben Drysdale to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Leigh Bramble came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Crewe United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leigh Bramble couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Crewe United getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Tristan Sheridan hit a great ball. After 64 played minutes, Watton-at-Stone's Pierre Wardell shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rueben Drysdale came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Watton-at-Stone reached it. Crewe United's Rueben Drysdale played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lee Reid in the 69th minute of play. In the 73rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Crewe United's goalkeeper Rueben Drysdale, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Leigh Bramble managed to get in a good position for a shot. Crewe United's supporters rose to their feet, but Leigh Bramble was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jay Gibson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Tyler Howson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Crewe United booed when Watton-at-Stone was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dave Bass didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Tyler Howson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 90 minutes, Paddy Spacey mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Watton-at-Stone and the Crewe United players grew even worse after the yellow card.
