With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kenny Lawson in the 6th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Devon Chambers saved Herne Hill City from getting behind. 13 minutes into the game, Bruce Colman was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bridgwater City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Herne Hill City the free kick. Bruce Colman kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. Herne Hill City's Steven Reddington couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 14th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Bridgwater City. Henry Cartwright fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Colin Morrell having to interfere. Kenny Lawson took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Devon Chambers. Devon Chambers dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Colin Morrell showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Henry Cartwright, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. In the 28th minute Kenny Lawson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Devon Chambers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Silvester Maylett got free with Colin Morrell in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Henry Cartwright managed to get in a good position for a shot. Herne Hill City's supporters rose to their feet, but Henry Cartwright was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Colin Morrell breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Rowan Clapham hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. After 40 played minutes, Herne Hill City's Steven Reddington shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Colin Morrell came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Herne Hill City reached it. Henry Cartwright sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Bridgwater City's Kenny Lawson in the 44th minute got a chance for a shot 44th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Herne Hill City's goalie prevented a goal. In the 45th minute, Jake Bishop hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.
When Kenny Lawson came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Bridgwater City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kenny Lawson couldn't finish the play. Henry Cartwright received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Colin Morrell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Colin Morrell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henry Cartwright in the 59th minute of play. 62 minutes into the match, Bridgwater City's goal looked a bit too open when Henry Cartwright came free, but Colin Morrell reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lewis Aiston struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Devon Chambers didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bridgwater City. When Ronan Cheesman fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bridgwater City's protests and gave Ronan Cheesman a yellow card for diving instead. Ronan Cheesman kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Kenny Lawson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Lewis Aiston had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 78th minute Henry Cartwright shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Colin Morrell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 81st minute, Herne Hill City's Charlie Spencer seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Charlie Spencer the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Herne Hill City protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Charlie Spencer had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Devon Chambers had in the 83rdth minute some difficulties stopping Rowan Clapham's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his right side, but he still managed to hold the ball The excitement rose when Bridgwater City's Rowan Clapham after 83 played minutes turned away three defenders near the goal, and after that shot a ball that was too difficult for Herne Hill City's goalkeeper to hold. Score! 0-2. Benjamin Smikle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Colin Morrell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
