Billingham FC's Stew Anderson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rich Armstrong in the 18th minute of play. Wes Henderson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 25 minutes into the match, Billingham FC's goal looked a bit too open when Wes Henderson came free, but Stew Anderson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rich Armstrong fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stew Anderson having to interfere. In the 38th minute, Rich Armstrong got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Rich Armstrong had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 43rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Billingham FC's goalkeeper Stew Anderson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The referee felt a red card was in order, 45 minutes into the game, when Darren Worth put in a rough tackle. In a very dangerous position, a player in Bakewell fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 44th minute. Penalty! When the match had been going on for 48 minutes, Billingham FC's Piers Edwards got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Warren Hargraves. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ash Carlick to make the kick off. Russell Lagdon hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Ash Carlick sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Billingham FC getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Dale Hepburn hit a great ball. After having played for 64 minutes, Wes Henderson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bakewell's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wes Henderson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sebastien Hylton struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Warren Hargraves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Billingham FC. Stew Anderson acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 69th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Blair Kerr. Wes Henderson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but Stew Anderson made a huge save. If Wes Henderson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dale Hepburn in the 85th minute of play forced Bakewell's goalkeeper Warren Hargraves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Bakewell's Rich Armstrong got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Ash Carlick fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Warren Hargraves having to interfere.
