Donny Ottaway made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miles Pyrah in the 3rd minute of play. The supporters of Verwood United booed when Wellesbourne was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wally Renwick didn't get a good kick on the ball. Donny Ottaway showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Miles Pyrah, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. After a rather tough play, Verwood United's Trev Brayford got a free kick in the 12th minute. Wally Renwick charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Wally Renwick the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Harvey Graves struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Devon Long didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Verwood United. In the 24th match minute, Verwood United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sam York to maneuver through the defense. If Harvey Graves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Devon Long showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joe Mumford, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. If Bruce Hanson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Donny Ottaway stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Miles Pyrah's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. 41 minutes into the game, Donny Eagles was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Verwood United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Wellesbourne the free kick. Donny Ottaway took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miles Pyrah, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 44th minute, Wellesbourne's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Harvey Graves fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Devon Long made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Harvey Graves sent off a good shot on target. Verwood United's Harvey Graves got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

The wind increased when Miles Pyrah made the kick off in the second half. Harvey Graves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Devon Long having to interfere. 55 minutes into the match, Wellesbourne's goal looked a bit too open when Joe Mumford came free, but Devon Long reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 70 minutes, Bruce Hanson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wellesbourne's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bruce Hanson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Wally Renwick fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donny Ottaway having to interfere. 76 minutes into the match, Wellesbourne's goal looked a bit too open when Joe Mumford came free, but Devon Long reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Joe Mumford in the 79th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Devon Long saved Wellesbourne from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Wellesbourne's zone, Harvey Graves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Devon Long came out of the goal and Harvey Graves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Miles Pyrah scored 0-1 in the 85th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Donny Ottaway, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 97th minute, Miles Pyrah got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Wellesbourne played a much better game than Verwood United and deserved their victory. The Verwood United players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
