The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience was convinced that Curtis Goodfellow's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rex Lonsdale was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. The supporters of Yarm booed when Eastbourne was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Josh Maclean didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eastbourne's Rex Lonsdale played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Curtis Goodfellow in the 19th minute of play. Steven Collingwood succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 21st playminute. If Carlton Bradley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eastbourne's Rex Lonsdale played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Curtis Goodfellow in the 33rd minute of play. A collision led to Yarm getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Joshua Fleming hit a great ball. Norman Bastow showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlton Bradley in the 37th minute of the match. Curtis Goodfellow sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Curtis Goodfellow made the kick off in the second half. When Steven Collingwood came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Yarm fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Steven Collingwood couldn't finish the play. After 56 minutes, Steven Collingwood made it 2-0 with a short kick to the right side. Eastbourne's Rex Lonsdale tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Norman Bastow showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlton Bradley, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Steven Collingwood's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rex Lonsdale read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. Curtis Goodfellow fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rex Lonsdale having to interfere. After 81 played minutes Yarm got a freekick which was hit by Blair Butterfield. Fraser Brady was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 82nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Norman Bastow showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlton Bradley in the 95th minute of the match.
