The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kasey Newman during the 2nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 2nd minute, one of Milton Keynes:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Milton Keynes. A collision led to Milton Keynes getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Den Abbotts hit a great ball. Craig Hibbert took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jerry Floyd, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Camron Baird received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Rupert Denham tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 18th match minute, Milton Keynes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kasey Newman to maneuver through the defense. Larry Doona sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Scott Kendall during the 28th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Hastings City getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Scott Kendall hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jerry Floyd in the 29th minute of play forced Hastings City's goalkeeper Craig Hibbert to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jerry Floyd in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Craig Hibbert saved Hastings City from getting behind. Craig Hibbert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jerry Floyd in the 39th minute of play. Darius Elvins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Jerry Floyd's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Craig Hibbert read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 61st minute of play. If Darius Elvins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Darius Elvins managed to get in a good position for a shot. Milton Keynes's supporters rose to their feet, but Darius Elvins was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Craig Hibbert breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 77th minute Jerry Floyd shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Craig Hibbert saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Barrie Ash had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After having played for 87 minutes, Darius Elvins managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Milton Keynes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Darius Elvins was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 90th minute, Neil Carsley fired a really elegant long shot, but Craig Hibbert threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. Jerry Floyd received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Craig Hibbert tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Jerry Floyd had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Darius Elvins got free with Craig Hibbert in the 97th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Hastings City were victorious despite being under pressure from Milton Keynes for much of the match.
