After 6 played minutes AFC Chievo Verona got a freekick which was hit by Samuel Linkletter. Robbie Wing charged in rather forcefully in the 7th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Robbie Wing the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 7th minute, Robbie Wing hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Paul Poate took the ball and in the 10 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sebastien Bridge. Sebastien Bridge dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After 13 minutes of play, AFC Chievo Verona's Paul Poate made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sebastien Bridge was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 18th minute, Marek Hartley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gürhan Yücel made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Junior Prince sent off a good shot on target. When AFC Chievo Verona's Paul Poate in the 20th minute got a chance for a shot 20th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. AFC Chievo Verona's Gürhan Yücel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save AFC Chievo Verona from getting a goal against them. In the 35th minute Paul Poate shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sebastien Bridge saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, AFC Chievo Verona's Samuel Linkletter got a free kick in the 36th minute. Sebastien Bridge showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hugh Kennedy in the 41st minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 43 minutes, Hugh Kennedy put it in 0-3 from a short distance just to the right of Sebastien Bridge. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Hugh Kennedy managed to get in a good position for a shot. AFC Chievo Verona's supporters rose to their feet, but Hugh Kennedy was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sebastien Bridge breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Paul Poate fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sebastien Bridge having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Sebastien Bridge made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. 0-5 became the score in the 60th minute when Hugh Kennedy elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Sebastien Bridge took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paul Poate, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Paul Poate had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Samuel Linkletter received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Sebastien Bridge tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hugh Kennedys short, quick shot in the 75thth minute got Sebastien Bridge to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After 80 minutes, Paul Poate made it 0-7 with a short kick to the right side. Welling FC's Sebastien Bridge tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 87 minutes into the match, AFC Chievo Verona's goal looked a bit too open when Junior Prince came free, but Gürhan Yücel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hugh Kennedy struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Sebastien Bridge didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AFC Chievo Verona. In the 91st minute, Steve Addison got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 94th play minutes Hugh Kennedy shot 0-9, a short shot which went by Sebastien Bridge and just under the crossbar into goal.
