Ed Goldthorpe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Neil Hurst having to interfere. In the 41st minute Robert Bonds shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Ellis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Russ Maxwells short, quick shot in the 82ndth minute got Neil Hurst to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Les Morning kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. A collision led to Manchester Devils getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. John Paul Armitage hit a great ball. In the 86th minute, Rob Hartley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tommy Ellis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David Rowling in the 90th minute of play. When Robert Bonds came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Tottenham Hotspurs fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Robert Bonds couldn't finish the play. Manchester Devils's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
