The audience was convinced that Hamid Kerbouche's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hatim Belhadj was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. When Nazir Belhadj fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Stevenage's protests and gave Nazir Belhadj a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Stevenage getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Nazir Belhadj hit a great ball. Moussa Cohen kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match.

Marwan Zeghdoud's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Hatim Belhadj read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Moussa Cohen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Stevenage's supporters rose to their feet, but Moussa Cohen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Salah El Kettani breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. There was no doubt that Stevenage were the better team. Stevenage's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
