The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Lazarus Mothobi was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Aubrey Lekgwathi. Shaheed Nomvete sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 14th minute, FC Steelpoort's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Silas Laher fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After 16 minutes, Milton Vanker mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Steelpoort and the Dikgang players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Dikgang booed when FC Steelpoort was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Milton Vanker didn't get a good kick on the ball. 32 minutes into the match, FC Steelpoort's goalkeeper Lazarus Mothobi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Silas Laher. If Shaheed Nomvete had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Silas Laher took the ball and in the 39 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Lazarus Mothobi. Lazarus Mothobi dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Lindo Thompson charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lindo Thompson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of FC Steelpoort booed when Dikgang was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lindo Thompson didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 46th minute, Shaheed Nomvete fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Lazarus Mothobi, passed just outside the right post. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When Dikgang's Silas Laher in the 54th minute got a chance for a shot 54th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FC Steelpoort's goalie prevented a goal. In the 59thth minute of the game Silas Laher who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Steelpoort's Lazarus Mothobi was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Lazarus Mothobi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Shaheed Nomvete, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Silas Laher in the 63rd minute of play forced FC Steelpoort's goalkeeper Lazarus Mothobi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Silas Laher sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Silas Laher had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lazarus Mothobi stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Shaheed Nomvete's shot from short distance in the 75th minute. If Silas Laher had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mabusela Mhlathe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Silas Laher struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Lazarus Mothobi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Dikgang. Lazarus Mothobi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Shaheed Nomvete in the 91st minute of play. In the 93rd minute, Albert Mbheki hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. FC Steelpoort's Lazarus Mothobi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Shaheed Nomvete in the 94th minute of play. In the 95th minute of the match Sibongile Mncube sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Lazarus Mothobi skillfully saved the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the FC Steelpoort players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Dikgang.
