The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the game, Kenny Komani was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. THE FLYING EAGLES's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mqele the free kick. Kenny Komani kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. When Promise Kubheka came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Mqele fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Promise Kubheka couldn't finish the play. After 13 minutes, Jeff Tembe mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mqele and the THE FLYING EAGLES players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of THE FLYING EAGLES booed when Mqele was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jeff Tembe didn't get a good kick on the ball. 19 minutes into the match, Promise Kubheka dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Lebang Konza, 1-0. After a defensive mix-up in THE FLYING EAGLES's zone, Promise Kubheka stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lebang Konza came out of the goal and Promise Kubheka tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thomas Sephadi hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, THE FLYING EAGLES's Delron Khumalo got a free kick in the 28th minute. In the 30th match minute, Mqele was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jomo Thebile to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dumisane Koen in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fuzile Arendse prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Lindo Serage sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fuzile Arendse took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brandon Sibeko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lebang Konza was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Jomo Thebile. In the 46th minute Promise Kubheka shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lebang Konza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Promise Kubheka stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Promise Kubheka's late challenge caught a THE FLYING EAGLES's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Promise Kubheka helped the player get up and apologised. In the 52nd minute, Promise Kubheka hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lebang Konza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Promise Kubheka in the 56th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lindo Serage in the 58th minute of play forced THE FLYING EAGLES's goalkeeper Lebang Konza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Promise Kubheka sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Lindo Serage had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Promise Kubheka received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Lebang Konza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 66 minutes of play, Mqele's Promise Kubheka made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Lebang Konza was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 69th minute, Dumisane Koen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Fuzile Arendse showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dumisane Koen, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. In the 81st minute, THE FLYING EAGLES's Dumisane Koen dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. A collision led to Mqele getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Jomo Thebile hit a great ball. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
