The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 6th minute, Ivan Mhlathe hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After recieving a nice pass, Bothasrus's Jocob Thobejane tried to score from far away in the 7th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. If Thami Mokhasi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Odendaalsrus booed when Bothasrus was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bernard Ntsume didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Bothasrus fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Papi Shongwe should have stopped the shot. In the 29thth minute of the game Thami Mokhasi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Odendaalsrus's Sam Sewele was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Sam Sewele took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Thami Mokhasi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thami Mokhasi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sam Sewele having to interfere. Thami Mokhasi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Thami Mokhasi stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Odendaalsrus's Nazeer Thebile dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-2. Bothasrus's Papi Shongwe proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Bothasrus from getting a goal against them. After 57 played minutes Bothasrus got a freekick which was hit by Bernard Ntsume. 71 minutes into the game, David Laher was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bothasrus's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Odendaalsrus the free kick. After 71 played minutes Bothasrus got a freekick which was hit by David Laher. Bothasrus's Papi Shongwe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfred Stoltz in the 74th minute of play. Madolo Nomvete in the 81stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Papi Shongwe, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Alfred Stoltz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Shumani Qabi fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Odendaalsrus's protests and gave Shumani Qabi a yellow card for diving instead. Sam Sewele went to the wrong direction when Jocob Thobejane was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Odendaalsrus walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
