With a little luck, MaveriQ FC's Jason Mathibe got control of the ball when Silas Fortuin tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lebang Mufumadi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patrice Vanker, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. Jomo Vanker kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. After having played for 14 minutes, Nkosi Smith managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. MaveriQ FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nkosi Smith was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jason Mathibe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leon Liau, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee felt a red card was in order, 31 minutes into the game, when Anton Thokozani put in a rough tackle. In a very dangerous position, a player in Flamenguinho de iracema fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 30th minute. Penalty! Jason Mathibe showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Norman Sibeko, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Flamenguinho de iracema's Norman Sibeko was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 39th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Lebang Mufumadi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nkosi Smith, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Elias Arendse hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. After the first half MaveriQ FC were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Patrice Vanker to strike the kick off in the second half. Patrice Vanker sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. MaveriQ FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Nkosi Smith in the 55th minute. Jason Mathibe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mpenza King in the 58th minute of play. Flamenguinho de iracema's Norman Sibeko got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Nkosi Smith had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Steve Takalani came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Flamenguinho de iracema fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Steve Takalani couldn't finish the play. Jason Mathibe showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Steve Takalani in the 67th minute of the match. Norman Sibeko's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jason Mathibe read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 73rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, MaveriQ FC's Jomo Maduna got a free kick in the 73rd minute. Norman Sibeko fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jason Mathibe having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jomo Maduna during the 79th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Flamenguinho de iracema booed when MaveriQ FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jomo Maduna didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 80th minute Norman Sibeko shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jason Mathibe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Patrice Vanker received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Lebang Mufumadi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
