Brandon Modipa's late challenge caught a KuGqangushe's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Brandon Modipa helped the player get up and apologised. In a very dangerous position, a player in Santos FC Cape Town fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 12th minute. Penalty! Rob Mandla could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Thami Setlaba made a huge save. Rob Mandla sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hlamane Mandela showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nelson Nauseb, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Rob Mandla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thami Setlaba having to interfere. Rob Mandla's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 27thth minute, Thami Setlaba skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. When Shumani Sewele fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored KuGqangushe's protests and gave Shumani Sewele a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, KuGqangushe's Shumani Sewele got a free kick in the 31st minute. In the 32nd minute, Harry Mayoyo sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and KuGqangushe's Thami Setlaba didn't even have to move. Nelson Nauseb recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Nelson Nauseb sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Nelson Nauseb received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Hlamane Mandela tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rob Mandla in the 38thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Thami Setlaba, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Harry Mayoyo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Thami Setlaba tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

After having played for 53 minutes, Rob Mandla managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Santos FC Cape Town's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rob Mandla was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Leslie Strauss's late challenge caught a KuGqangushe's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Leslie Strauss helped the player get up and apologised. Leslie Strauss kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match.
