Vladislav Podbregar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After having played for 20 minutes, Istok Kopasić managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Metlika ND's supporters crossed their fingers, but Istok Kopasić was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Julij Burnić received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Mirjan Šmon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 31st minute, Vladislav Podbregar fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Ferid Šoster, passed just outside the right post. Roberto Kašibović fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mirjan Šmon having to interfere. In the 41st minute, Julij Burnić got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Mirjan Šmon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julij Burnić, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 44 minutes into the match, Prebold NK's goalkeeper Ferid Šoster had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Vladislav Podbregar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roberto Kašibović in the 46th minute of play forced Metlika ND's goalkeeper Mirjan Šmon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mirjan Šmon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roberto Kašibović, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Julij Burnić was the one to do the kick off. 54 minutes had been played when some careless play by Metlika ND's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Sejad Vrečar was slow to take the kick. During this time Prebold NK's players had a chance to rest. Ambrož Virant tried in the 54th minute to hit away a contribution but miss-kicked the ball which ended up in his own goal and left an unhappy Mirjan Šmon a with quite unnecessary self made goal. In the 62nd minute, one of Metlika ND:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Metlika ND. Metlika ND:s Mirjan Šmon showed great skill when he stopped Sejad Vrečar:s penalty. Rian Perić's late challenge caught a Prebold NK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rian Perić helped the player get up and apologised. Vladislav Podbregar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ferid Šoster having to interfere. In the 80th minute Julij Burnić shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mirjan Šmon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mirjan Šmon made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Roberto Kašibović sent off a good shot on target. Tadej Svatovšek kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Ferid Šoster showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Istok Kopasić in the 92nd minute of the match.
