The supporters of Zagorje ob Savi booed when Zreče ND was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nejc Smodiš didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 7th minute Stane Ljubec shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Duško Avšar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 12 minutes into the game, Hinko Trplan was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Zreče ND's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Zagorje ob Savi the free kick. Hinko Trplan kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. When Zagorje ob Savi's Helmut Hegler in the 13th minute got a chance for a shot 13th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Zreče ND's goalie prevented a goal. Elvis Trupej received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. In the 31st minute of the match Veno Hlebš sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Duško Avšar skillfully saved the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Helmut Hegler in the 35th minute of play forced Zreče ND's goalkeeper Duško Avšar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Stane Ljubec had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 48th minute, Helmut Hegler got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

In the 53rd minute, Elvis Trupej hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Zagorje ob Savi getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Bruno Uranc hit a great ball. In the 55th minute, Elvis Trupej got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the match clock showed 60 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Mirando Žumbergar sped through Zagorje ob Savi's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Adam Skok. Adam Skok took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mirando Žumbergar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 67 minutes, Helmut Hegler managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Zagorje ob Savi's supporters crossed their fingers, but Helmut Hegler was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some careless play in the Zagorje ob Savi defense, Elvis Trupej kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Adam Skok. The Zagorje ob Savi fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Adam Skok should have stopped the shot. 72 minutes into the match, Elvis Trupej notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Zagorje ob Savi's Adam Skok. Adam Skok was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Helmut Hegler struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Duško Avšar didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Zagorje ob Savi. A collision led to Zagorje ob Savi getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Veno Hlebš hit a great ball. Zreče ND's Meti Oblak couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Zagorje ob Savi. Mirando Žumbergar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Adam Skok tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Duško Avšar was a little too slow when Stane Ljubec got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 93rd minute. The score was now 3-2. If Mirando Žumbergar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zagorje ob Savi's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
