Elio Bizjak showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gabriel Grbac, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Albis Grebenc managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bad Blue Boys's supporters rose to their feet, but Albis Grebenc was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Etien Žitnik breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tristan Pikalo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hinko Japelj took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Elio Bizjak. Elio Bizjak dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 24th minute of the match Gabriel Grbac shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Elio Bizjak showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Etien Žitnik stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tristan Pikalo's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. Vahidin Prosenjak received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Elio Bizjak tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tristan Pikalo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Hinko Japelj in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Elio Bizjak prevented the ball from getting in the gole. George Miklavčič charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed George Miklavčič the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Ajdovščina ND booed when Bad Blue Boys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. George Miklavčič didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tristan Pikalo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Hinko Japelj came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Ajdovščina ND fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hinko Japelj couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Hinko Japelj managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ajdovščina ND's supporters rose to their feet, but Hinko Japelj was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. When Ajdovščina ND's Hinko Japelj in the 86th minute got a chance for a shot 86th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Bad Blue Boys's goalie prevented a goal. In the 87th minute, Gabriel Grbac got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Bad Blue Boys booed when Ajdovščina ND was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Đerat Mahkota didn't get a good kick on the ball. Albis Grebenc blasted a shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Etien Žitnik having to make a save. 94 minutes into the game, Đerat Mahkota was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ajdovščina ND's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bad Blue Boys the free kick.
