The audience thought a goal was coming when Mirko Erjavec got free with Marjan Čebulj in the 4th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match had gone on for 4 minutes, Mirko Erjavec took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Marjan Čebulj to make any attempt to save it. Sandro Oman hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. Vojo Derča sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Boston University's Marjan Čebulj got control of the ball when Bem Guček tried to sneak it across the goal line. A hard shot 14 in the game by Mirko Erjavec from a close distance when the talented Marjan Čebulj managed to make a qualified save. Boston University's players were relieved. Marjan Čebulj stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Senad Kalamar's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. When Mirko Erjavec fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored NK Brežice's protests and gave Mirko Erjavec a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to NK Brežice getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Mirko Erjavec hit a great ball. Vojo Derča sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Andrej Peulić fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Boston University's protests and gave Andrej Peulić a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Boston University's Andrej Peulić got a free kick in the 25th minute. Bem Guček kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. After 35th play minutes Senad Kalamar shot 2-0, a short shot which went by Marjan Čebulj and just under the crossbar into goal. After a defensive mix-up in Boston University's zone, Lun Klenovšek stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marjan Čebulj came out of the goal and Lun Klenovšek tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mirko Erjavec fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marjan Čebulj having to interfere. After a rather tough play, NK Brežice's Ferid Mohar got a free kick in the 43rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Senad Kalamar in the 47th minute of play forced Boston University's goalkeeper Marjan Čebulj to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Marjan Čebulj came out of the goal in the 52nd minute to try and stop a shot by NK Brežice's Senad Kalamar. But to his dismay, Senad Kalamar quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mirko Erjavec in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marjan Čebulj saved Boston University from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mirko Erjavec in the 62nd minute of play forced Boston University's goalkeeper Marjan Čebulj to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, NK Brežice's Lun Klenovšek got a free kick in the 65th minute. If Davorin Kruljac had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. NK Brežice's Mirko Erjavec got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Senad Kalamar in the 81st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marjan Čebulj saved Boston University from getting behind. If Senad Kalamar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bert Tomič during the 84th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Boston University getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Bert Tomič hit a great ball. Senad Kalamar kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Senad Kalamar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The NK Brežice fans cheered their team off the field, for while Boston University had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
