In the 3rd minute of the match Jens-Ove Nilsson sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dag Alebeck skillfully saved the ball. 6 minutes into the match, IFK GBG's goal looked a bit too open when Bertil Fogel came free, but Dag Alebeck reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 8th minute, Andy Lingren fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Jonathan Löfkvist, passed just outside the right post. In the 12th minute of the match Polat Erdemli sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jonathan Löfkvist skillfully saved the ball. Dag Alebeck showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bertil Fogel, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Dag Alebeck didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bertil Fogel went, in the 16th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 21 minutes into the match, Andy Lingren notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of C.A. RIVER PLATE's Jonathan Löfkvist. Jonathan Löfkvist was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. IFK GBG's Andy Lingren got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 32 minutes into the match, Andy Lingren notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of C.A. RIVER PLATE's Jonathan Löfkvist. Jonathan Löfkvist was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 37 minutes into the match, IFK GBG's goal looked a bit too open when Bertil Fogel came free, but Dag Alebeck reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Peter Tingberg in the 38th minute of play forced IFK GBG's goalkeeper Dag Alebeck to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jonathan Löfkvist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivar Berggren, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ivar Berggren was the one to do the kick off. IFK GBG's Johannes Jakobsson quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Inge Möller, made in the 52nd minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Andy Lingren in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Löfkvist saved C.A. RIVER PLATE from getting behind. Peter Tingberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dag Alebeck having to interfere. After some careless play in the IFK GBG defense, Bertil Fogel kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dag Alebeck. The IFK GBG fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dag Alebeck should have stopped the shot. Ivar Berggren might have been able to make a better finish in the 73rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonathan Löfkvist. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ivar Berggren ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 78th minute Ivar Berggren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Löfkvist saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in C.A. RIVER PLATE's zone, Ivar Berggren stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Löfkvist came out of the goal and Ivar Berggren tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 80 played minutes C.A. RIVER PLATE got a freekick which was hit by Jens-Ove Nilsson. Jonathan Löfkvist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Andy Lingren in the 88th minute of the match. Andy Lingren sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 93rd minute of the match Polat Erdemli sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jonathan Löfkvist skillfully saved the ball. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
