Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Hishult's Manfred Hammarbäck got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Piteå FK's Bernt Rönn proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 10th minute of the match, managed to save Piteå FK from getting a goal against them. After 11 minutes of play, Piteå FK's Sigvard Ahlfors made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Niklas Pettersson was left in no man's land by his defense there! Niklas Pettersson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Thomas Harman in the 14th minute of the match. In the 15th minute, Sigvard Ahlfors left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Piteå FK fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Manfred Hammarbäck received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. In the 46th minute Thomas Harman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Niklas Pettersson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sigvard Ahlfors to strike the kick off in the second half. Hishult's Fryderyk Dziewulski managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Jan-Olof Kellbom in the 62 minute of the game. 63 minutes into the match, Piteå FK's goal looked a bit too open when Åke Bergren came free, but Bernt Rönn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
