The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Folke Blanck kicked well hit freekick during the 2nd minute of the match. 5 minutes into the game, Sigvard Olsmann was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. XXVI's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hedenäset IFK the free kick. Astor Egun kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. After a good free kick, Astor Egun got an opportunity to smash the ball into the goal, but unfortunately, the ball went just outside the goal, which resulted in a goal kick for Hedenäset IFK. Gösta Wickander made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christopher Fredriksson in the 10th minute of play. In the 11th minute, Sigvard Olsmann hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 13th match minute, XXVI was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stellan Källberg to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, XXVI's Astor Egun got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Gösta Wickander showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bengt-Arne Törnkvist, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. In the 40th minute the ball was on its way in behind Hedenäset IFK's goalkeeper George Göransson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 42nd minute, Astor Egun ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. George Göransson was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. George Göransson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stellan Källberg in the 47th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bengt-Arne Törnkvist to strike the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bengt-Åke Mossberg during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Hedenäset IFK's Bengt-Åke Mossberg got a free kick in the 56th minute. The audience was convinced that Stellan Källberg's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but George Göransson was relentless in the 57th minute of the game. Roger Gabrielsson hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. In the 60th minute, Kaiet Cardeñosa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Astor Egun fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without George Göransson having to interfere. Stellan Källberg who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 68thth minute tested the skills of George Göransson when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Bengt-Åke Mossberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kaiet Cardeñosa kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Hedenäset IFK defense, Stellan Källberg kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of George Göransson. The Hedenäset IFK fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that George Göransson should have stopped the shot. A collision led to XXVI getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Stellan Källberg hit a great ball. George Göransson didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 89th minute, which inside left pole to 0-4. George Göransson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Astor Egun, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 96 played minutes Hedenäset IFK got a freekick which was hit by Roger Gabrielsson. XXVI's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
