Tord Tönnberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Thomas Vennerlund had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thomas Vennerlund blasted a shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tord Tönnberg having to make a save. Thomas Vennerlund fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tord Tönnberg having to interfere. Tord Tönnberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Börje Löfskog, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. If Börje Löfskog had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Linneryd IK's Leif Alrot in the 31st minute got a chance for a shot 31st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Skelleftehamn IF's goalie prevented a goal. Martin Johansson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sven-Olof Granberg read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. Linneryd IK were awarded a corner in the 39th minute after Skelleftehamn IF's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Knut Alrot took the corner. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Leif Alrot was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute of the match Linneryd IK got a corner. Skelleftehamn IF's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Knut Alrot ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Knut Alrot got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Sven-Olof Granberg quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After having played for 55 minutes, Martin Johansson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Linneryd IK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Martin Johansson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Thomas Vennerlund couldn't finish the play. In the 71st minute Leif Alrot shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sven-Olof Granberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Martin Johansson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sven-Olof Granberg came out of the goal in the 84th minute to try and stop a shot by Linneryd IK's Leif Alrot. But to his dismay, Leif Alrot quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Leif Alrot fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sven-Olof Granberg having to interfere. Tord Tönnberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thomas Vennerlund in the 92nd minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Morgan Svanström during the 93rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 93rd minute, Morgan Svanström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
